Burritos all around.

After a cursory count on Google Maps, there are at least (emphasis on the "at least") 22 Chipotle restaurants within 10 miles of CUC.

We love those burritos!

Check out a more detailed map with addresses here.

Caffeinated drinks are a fact of life for college students. Unfortunately, all that caffeine can have a negative effect on your health if you are consuming too much in the course of a day. Everything from sleep to your resting heart rate can become problematic if you are drinking too much caffeine in a day...tempting, I know, but unhealthy nonetheless.

There are some things to do for all-natural energy boosts:

1) Eat breakfast every morning. Try some egg whites, granola and yogurt or a high-fiber cereal with fruit.
2) Exercise. Although finding time to exercise while you are in college can seem a bit of a stretch, just taking a 15 minute walk in the morning will boost your energy for the day.
3) Eat some pistachios. Eating 1.5 ounches of pistachios daily lowers your blood pressure and reduces the workload on your heard during emotional ahd physical stress.
4) Take a quick shower. Make sure the water is lukewarm (not hot), and turn it cold for the last few minutes.
5) Go to bed an hour earlier than you usually do. Schedule this into your planner as if it was homework you had to do to make sure you don't skimp and stay up later.
6) Borrow this trick from yoga: sit quietly and relax all your muscles starting from your neck all the way to your toes. Then take a deep breath, concentrating to breathe completely in through your left nostril only. Then reach up with your left hand, close your left nostril, and breathe out slowly through your right nostril. Do this 5-10 times and you'll feel less stressed and more focused.

Do you have any tips on how to energize yourself without the help of caffeine?

Local Festivals - Mark your calendars.

The 26th annual Takoma Park Street Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 7.

This exciting yearly event features 18 musical groups on three different stages, crafts, community information booths and lots and lots of food.

We suggest parking at CUC and taking the number 18 RideOn Metro bus from campus to downtown Takoma Park. The festival attracts between 10,000 to 12,000 people, so parking, needless to say, will be scarce!

Indie Movie News

Check out the new movie "Chalk" at the renowned E Street Cinema in DC. This theatre primarily shows independent or little-known films, and at times, popular foreign films.

Here is how Landmark Theatres (which owns E Street) describes "Chalk":

"In the comedic style of The Office and Christopher Guest's films, director/co-writer Mike Akel pulls you into the frenetic and awkwardly painful journey of three teachers as they navigate one memorable school year. Mr. Lowrey (Troy Schremmer) is struggling to even call himself a teacher; Coach Webb (Janelle Schremmer) pines for some romantic company; and assistant principal Mrs. Reddell (Shannon Haragan) discovers her new power post is all-consuming. In a country where 50 percent of teachers quit within the first three years, Akel delivers an enormous dose of heart, hilarity and hope for America's most important institution."

Check out the showing times and the other movies featured at E Street and Bethesda Row (the other Landmark outpost) here, or read the Washington Post's review of "Chalk."

Take the afternoon off.

The Old Post Office Pavilion, located right off the Federal Triangle Metro station, is one of DC's little-known secrets. Sure, it's busy during the day, but it's filled mostly with nearby office workers taking a leisurely lunch break. Even during peak tourist season, the Old Post Office is far enough from the Mall that it doesn't have tourist overflow problems.

What does that mean for you? A great time, and not a whole lot of crowds.

The best part about the Old Post Office Pavilion is the food. With dozens of international vendors, there really is something for everyone. Here's a partial list of what awaits:

Everything Yogurt: Smoothies, gourmet pretzels and salads.

Georgetown Deli: Fresh sandwiches on a variety or breads.

Greek Taverna: Middle Eastern cuisine.

Hosoi Sushi: Authentic Japanese Sushi.

Hot Dog Mania: An assortment of gourmet hot dogs and toppings.

Indian Delight: Authentic Indian cuisine.

Pavilion Burrito: Enjoy delicious tacos, burritos, fajitas and other Mexican fare.

Pavilion Pizza: Enjoy a slice of specialty pizza or a whole pizza pie.

Quick Pita: Middle Eastern fare.

And, no trip to the Old Post Office would be complete without a trip up the 315-foot-tall Tower, which provides breathtaking views of the city. Right now, the Post Office and Tower are open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

News from the Smithsonian.

Instead of sitting around watching MTV all weekend, you could do something fun...and educational. Yes, sometimes those two do go together. The Smithsonian Insitution is dedicated to providing interesting exhibits to suit a range of interests...even your's.

The National Gallery of Art is currently showcasing an exhibition of European Master Drawings, spanning four centuries. With drawings by a slew of famous artists (like Edgar Degas), you'll have an opportunity to view art in its rawest form, before the paint touched the canvas.

So, okay, art's not really your thing. Well, take a quick look and then head over to the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) for lunch at the Mitsitam Native Foods Café. The NMAI is located directly across the Mall from the National Gallery of Art, and really, you can't miss it. The building looks like no other museum on the Mall.

Head home on the L'Enfant Plaza Metro station located on the Green and Yellow lines. It's right behind the NMAI and the Air and Space Museum.

Have a fun weekend!

Summer seems to have agreed with the CUC Men's and Women's soccer teams. Both teams have won recent games...by a huge margin. The men's team played Patrick Henry College on Friday, August 31, for a win of 6-1. The women then pulled off a huge win on Sunday against Gallaudet University with a final score of 8-1.

"We were so excited to pull off our first win against Gallaudet, which is such a well-known school," said freshman forward Jeralyn Wile of the Lady Pioneers.

Congratulations to both teams...and we hope to see more of the same in the upcoming season!

Come see the Lady Pioneers play their next home game against Christendom College on September 10 at 6 p.m. The men's soccer team plays next on September 6 at Martin Luther King Jr. Recreational Park against Holy Family University.
