ONE OF THE best parts about going to school in the Washington, DC area is that there are few places in the country with better restaurants.
CUCblog wants to keep students and prospective students in the loop as it relates to the hottest, trendiest, and -- of course -- most affordable places to get a bit to eat in the area. The following review comes directly from the
Columbia Journal -- the official CUC student newspaper.
"Do you enjoy pizza, but are tired of the traditional Pizza Hut or Domino's? With its wood-oven baked pizzas topped with a quality tomato sauce, delicious cheese, fresh garden herbs, an honest olive oil, and vibrant toppings, Pizzeria Paradiso offers an exciting change from the typical pizza.
The menu boasts pizza creations like the Quattro Formaggi, made with four cheese, parsley and garlic; or the Siciliana, made with tomato, zucchini, eggplant, peppers, red onion, capers, garlic, oregano, mozzarella, and pecorino. these creations costs between $9.95 and $10.95 for an 8" pizza.
While you can expect great pizza from Pizzeria Paradiso, be prepared to wait in large crowds. Be prepared for a lot of squeezing-in at the original Dupont Circle location, which is no bigger than a studio apartment. Here, families and first-dates spill onto the front stoop while they wait for one of the handful of tables. The newer Georgetown location, the dinner spot of choice for many any undergrad, is roomier.
So if you've got some time to go walking around Georgetown or Dupont Circle and want a change from the traditional pizza, remember Pizzeria Paradiso."

FORBES MAGAZINE HAS just released a
list of the best cities to get a job -- and Washington, DC ranked #1.
Of course, this is no surprise to those of us who live here. We've known for years that Washington is a hotbed for internships and jobs. If you don't believe us, just ask some of our students. In the past couple of years we have had students intern at places like CNN, USA Today, the NIH, the Discovery Channel, AOL, XM Radio, Chevy Chase Bank, the IMF, Congress, and the list could go on and on and on.
If you didn't see the article, here's the top five cities as determined by Forbes:
- Washington, DC
- Phoenix, Arizone
- Las Vegas, Nevada
- Orlando, Florida
- Bethesda, Maryland (a suburb of DC -- just 4 miles from CUC)
If you're serious about education as a stepping stone to your future, wouldn't you want to attend college near one of these cities? Or, in the case of CUC, two of these cities?

DID YOU SEE the article in the
Wall Street Journal last week titled 'Any College Will Do?'. The basic point of the piece was to show that you don't need an Ivy League education to become a successful CEO. In fact, if you look at the 100 top businesses in the United States, you'll find that most of their CEO's do not have fancy degrees.
Warren Buffett, CEO of
Berkshire Hathaway is quoted in the article. 'I don't care where someone went to school, and that never caused me to hire anyone or buy a business." He goes on to say that what count's most in a person's capacity to 'seize opportunities.'
Isn't that what college is about? Seizing opportunities? You can read the article in full by
